My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Notes: 02-03-06 This little girl was found as a stray 01-25-06, cold, thin, hungry. The farm couple that found her have been feeding her, watering her, fattened her up a bit. They have tried unsuccessfully to find her owner. She may have been a house dog as she would be at their back door, trying to go inside.

We have notified Cole Camp City Hall that she is here. The owner may still try to locate her.

We have tagged this little girl Audie as no dog should be unnamed. She is quite friendly, rode quietly in the pet taxi in the back seat.

As we have no other info. on her, she is in quarantine.

Note 02-04-06 Audie has been wormed, given a flea preventative and basic vaccinations.
She weighs 15 lbs., stands 10 1/2 inches tall at the shoulder. She walks very well on a leash. She jumps up for attention, yet is not a barker or whiner.

Update 02-06-06 We are taking inquiries on Audie. She must be H/W tested, microchipped, spayed prior to leaving rescue. We must also evaluate her house manners.

We have had 2 guesses that she is mixed with chihuahua, another that she may be min pin in the mix. Audie just grins. Your guess is as good as ours and those offering opinions.

Priscilla wants to put Audie in our Mighty Mutt Youth Program. We must first make sure of her likes and dislikes. She must be evaluated. She must be child friendly, no aggression whatsoever. While she appears to be quite a "friendly mutt" she has not been here long enough to make sure of her disposition with other pets and children.

Update 02-07-06 Audie visited Dr. Anstaett, has been tested H/W neg., spayed, Rabies vacc., microchipped. Dr. Candy estimated her age at 2 or 3 yrs.

We have tested Audie briefly and she does fine with the other dogs and the resident cat. She is also doing quite well in the crate, seems to be content with a pillow.
We must still verify her house manners. She does keep her crate clean, also waits to come out of the kennel to do her duty.

Note 02-13-06 Audie is spending some time with Priscilla, Mighty Mutt Youth Program, and her family to be tested with children. We will post an update when received from Priscilla.

Note 02-13-06 from Priscilla-
Dear Judy,
Audie is doing great here. Jaxs loves her. They play WONDERFULLY together. Unfortunately he has been filling her in on his odd habits. (climbing around like a cat, jumping all over, etc.) She likes the kids and likes to play with them. Enjoys sitting in adult laps when she is ready. No accidents in the house and was left out and unattended for about 1 1/2 hours...did great. Walks well on a leash. Both kids are able to walk her by themselves without a problem. Not sure exactly when will bring her back. Will try to call you later.

7 Bells Note: Elijah is 4 yrs. old and Forrest is 6 yrs. old. Both boys have been taught how to be nice to pets.
Based on the note from Priscilla and our observations here, we do believe her to be housebroken.

Update 02-16-06 Received this note from Priscilla about the overnight stay of Audie
We had a wonderful time having Audie stay with us. She slept in the crate with no problems. Continues to appear housetrained. She is lively but soaks it up when you sit and pet her. Laid like a baby in Elijah's arms and loved it!

Update 02-16-06 Audie has a pending adoption with Lana, Jennifer, & Anna. Their neighbor Lil came along with them for the ride. Lil will be the dog sitter when the family goes out of town.
Audie will be taking Madeline (Mattie) with her as Lana said Mattie's eyes reminded her of a cocker she used to have.

Lana teaches 1st grade. She has taught her children to do the right thing by animals. They know the importance of keeping ID on their pet. They recently found a small dog running loose, were able to reunite the dog with the owner.

Having Audie microchipped plus collar ID means they have double protection should Audie ever be lost/strayed/stolen.
