My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**EMBER HAS BEEN ADOPTED!* Ember is a beautiful girl with a beautiful personality searching for her happily ever after. She is estimated to be around 5 years old and weighs 43 pounds. Ember is one of the kindest, sweetest, and gentlest dogs we've ever had come through our doors, which makes her sad story even more heartbreaking. Ember and her six 6-week-old puppies were left outside an animal control facility in rural Kentucky after hours to fend for themselves overnight. They were not discovered until the volunteers arrived the next morning. The shelter is off a busy road, and Mama Ember did her best to keep an eye on them. Unfortunately, however, a vehicle hit and killed one of the puppies during the night. Thankfully, Ember and all of the other puppies survived until the shelter reopened. After hearing their horrific story and all they had been through, we knew we could not leave them at an overcrowded, chaotic, stressful pound and found them a wonderful foster home in Chicago.
Ember arrived at Pal's Place in rough shape. She was emaciated and filthy with a dirty, matted coat. She's been in foster care for a couple of months now and is thriving. She's gained weight, raised her puppies, and is now ready for her happily ever after! Despite her rough past, Ember holds no grudges and loves people and other dogs. She's extremely mild-mannered, well-behaved, and affectionate and has passed her exceptional temperament onto her puppies. A true diamond of a dog! This girl will fit in readily in most homes, and whoever adopts this little lady will be extremely fortunate. She is quiet and well-behaved in the home, crate-trained and housebroken. Ember is spayed, current with age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee to the rescue is $375. She is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an application has been submitted.
