My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Rosie the Riveter! My foster Mom says I'm a beauty queen with my enchanting eyes and silky soft red coat. She also says I'm a lot like the shy girl in class until I get comfortable in my new environment. They think I am about a year old and am medium size 40 pound hound-ish looking lady.

I am fast, like to play with other dogs at this house, and follow the kids around to see what they are up to. It took me a couple days to get used to my new place and I like it here. I haven't had a single accident inside. My best friend here is one of my dog-brothers. We take turns chasing each other in the backyard then take long naps on the cool grass or stretched out on a dog bed. I also like to snuggle with....everyone. When I first got here I was pretty shut down from my previous life and time spent in the holding facility, but after a couple days I let my foster family see how spunky I really am. I'm still learning the ropes and refining my manners. I am crate trained, and I prefer to be wherever you are.

I love chew toys and lounging in the grass in the backyard. I can walk on a leash and I've just about mastered "sit". I do take my "cookies" gently, and I like kids. I am careful not to knock anyone over. I am living with two active kids ages 6 and 10. They are good cuddlers. When they let me, I like to lay on their bed with them. I've been left alone for about 5 hours at a time. I NEVER make a mess in my kennel; I can wait the entire night to go outside again. I like to wake up early with the sun.
I like all dogs, even my other big brother who ignores me most of the time. My long legs make me as tall as my dog-brothers, but they are bigger and heavier than I am. I haven't met any cats yet. I do well in the car and enjoy looking out the window. I need a secure fence and am still working on "come". My ideal home would have playmates for me, either kids or another animal. I like a mix of play and leisure. I may be slow to overcome my shyness in a new setting, but I will have a bounty of snuggles waiting for you when I do.
