My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dewy, the Sweet and Shy Lovebug!

Dewy is an approximately 1-2 year old Pitbull mix who weighs 34 pounds of pure sweetness. This sensitive boy is looking for a forever family who can give him the patience and love he needs to truly blossom. Once Dewy feels comfortable, he reveals his true love-bug nature and can't wait to spend time with his favorite people. Whether it's snuggling on the couch or going for a gentle walk, Dewy is ready to make lasting memories with his new family.

Dewy shows potential to live with other dogs, as long as they are a good fit for his gentle personality. He would thrive in a home with children aged 13 and older, ensuring a calm and understanding environment.

Are you ready to open your heart and home to this sweet and shy boy? Dewy is waiting to find his forever family! If Dewy sounds like he might be a good fit please give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext. 226!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
