My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bubba was dumped and abandoned to fend for himself. He’s in a temporary home, but needs a real home. He’s sweet, gentle, and friendly. Good with dogs and children. Unsure about cats. He’s beautiful with one amber eye and one brown eye. Neutered and up to date on vaccines. If interested, please text

More about this rescue

This is my daughter’s statement. The stress of Veterinarian bills soaring far beyond donations crippled her financially. Further, she rarely to never received help of any kind. Her health was negatively impacted. I’m her mother, Linda. I’m doing my best to help dogs. However, without donations, I am also in debt to Veterinarian clinics. Please help by adopting a dog who needs a chance. Here’s her original mission:

If I see a stray I will try to catch him/her. I try to take in small strays that others have caught, and are willing to help cover costs, to help prevent dogs going to our very high kill Memphis shelter. Each stray costs a minimum of $2,000.00 to get well. They are very sick as they should NOT be living as strays! I also help owners re-home their pet so they will not become strays or have to take them to our very high kill shelter. Owner surrenders must also help pay with expenses. I am not in the position to take on these financial responsibilities. All donations to help us save these pets in need are tax deductible. I then need help to find them a loving furever home, and I network across USA to do that. Donations are always greatly appreciated and can be accepted on my account, Linda Hunter with Family Veterinarian Practice 901-385-8387.
♥ Peace Rescue

I completed basic training 1 and 2 with A.R.C.

We give exquisite care to strays. vetting, Heartguard, Nexguard, Taste of the Wild dog food, toys, dental rawhide-like bones, Greenies pill pockets for their meds, treats, and lots of love. We buy a Barkbox every month. Please help us help stray animals.

Jake, along with Dancer, are how Sweet Strays began. Jake was crossing James Rd at Highland. I pulled over to catch him. He kept looking back in the church yard. There was a dog (Dancer) with a broken leg and ribs showing. Dancer would not get near me, and Jake would not leave Dancer. For 5 weeks I regularly went to feed them at the church. They would chase my car in the parking lot when I pulled in. They would play with me and lick my face, but would not let me catch them. It was cold, rainy January, and I made up my mind i would catch them on Thursday. By this time, a 3rd dog (Pearl) had joined the pack. I got Dancer fairly quickly and easily, he was about to die. Jake was stubborn, thrashed when I got the slip leash around him, and got away, but did not run away. After another hour i got Jake into the car, but not Pearl. It turned dark and rained in Frayser, but Pearl would not get close enough. I finally left but caught Pearl 2 days later! Pearl immediately was adopted but I had to network for Jake and Dancer. Jake went further south to Dixie Adoptables in Lucerne, MS and is now up north. LOLIN (Lots of Love Indiana) posted Dancer on their website; he was adopted and now lives in Indiana. I always try to catch strays and will not stop! I have made great friends through this journey of rescue, and know I will make more! SOS: Saving Our Strays
