My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Korea

Meet Jafar!

Rescue Story: Jafar's journey has been one of resilience. He was discovered tied with a leash of less than 1 meter in a container at a construction site, surviving on scraps and stale bread. His world was confined to that small space, but he was rescued from the brink of abandonment. Jafar had an early stage heartworm infection, which he bravely battled through treatment and is now declared healthy.

Personality & Characteristics:

  • My foster dog is good with: people - he becomes friendly quickly if approached slowly during the first meeting. He seeks affection and loves attention, and is not aggressive at all! He is good with female dogs, but can be timid and afraid around other male dogs - however, he does get along very well with a male puppy in his foster home. Despite being mistreated by larger dogs that passed by when he was tied up before his rescue, he is generally friendly, but it takes time for him to become comfortable with larger male dogs. He is also a little afraid of kids as sometimes younger children get excited and might startle him, so he would do best in an adult-only home without younger children.

  • My foster dog is: House trained - he prefers to go potty outdoors! He is undergoing training to become more comfortable with kennels. While he enters willingly, he doesn't like it when the door is closed.

  • 3 Keywords for your pup: Gentle, Playful, Affectionate

  • ‍ Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): lv.6

  • Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: He does not bark or howl excessively.

  • ‍ Walking Manners: Initially, he may pull on the leash in unfamiliar places, but he becomes calm when corrected. Once a place becomes familiar, he enjoys leisurely walks.

  • Appetite: He dislikes dry kibble but eats most other foods with no issues. Currently, he is eating Orijen and Acana brands. He doesn't have any known allergies!

  •   Does the following: Jafar does not particularly enjoy baths but behaves well during them. He may get nervous during brushing but generally cooperates. He sheds moderately. He does not have separation anxiety. He is fearful of thunder and lightning and has some anxiety. Jafar does not experience motion sickness and is comfortable indoors. He does not experience car sickness and rides comfortably in a car. Jafar is generally well-behaved during veterinary visits and injections.

  • Favorite Things: Walks, treats, playing, and lying next to people

  • Commands/Tricks: He knows basic commands like sit, stay, lie down, and shake.

  • Health background: Jafar was diagnosed with an early stage heartworm infection upon rescue, received treatment, and has since been declared healthy. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, and receives heartworm and tick prevention on the 15th of every month.

Current Living Situation: Jafar is currently in a loving foster home, but he's ready for his forever family.

Desired Adoption Home:

  • afar would thrive in a home where he can receive plenty of love and attention as the only pet.

  • A family without young children is preferred due to his startle response.

  • Experience with Jindo dogs or large breeds is ideal, along with a commitment to ongoing learning about dog care.

  • Jafar seeks a loving and stable environment to call home, where he can continue to flourish.
