My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Venus! She is a year old and weighs around 40 pounds.

Venus is a sweet, friendly girl. She does well meeting new people and is great with kids! She enjoys being near her people and is content to lay down nearby while you're working in the kitchen or on the floor by your feet when hanging out on the couch, it not snuggled up on the couch with you. She is happy sleeping on a dog bed on the floor next to your bed but would likely love to snuggle up in the bed with you if that is your thing!

She is good with other dogs, big and small. She enjoys playing and would thrive in a home with another dog that likes to play. She has done well with social cues from dogs that aren't interested in playing and generally gives them the space they need. She has done well with cats that are accustomed to dogs and can assert their boundaries.

Venus enjoys being outside and running around the back yard. She is playful and loves to play with her toys, a stuffed bunny being one of her favorites, and likes to find a nice place to lay down to enjoy a chew toy or bone.

She is kennel trained and has some experience with house training. Since she has been in boarding for several months, she will need a home that can help her continue reinforcing potty training. She does well on a leash and is a good car rider! She is a smart girl and responds well to correction and positive reinforcement. She aims to please and praise goes a long way with her.

Venus does have some minor issues with her front feet that make her run look a little like she's hopping. She's been checked out by the vet and doesn't need any surgery. It's something that could improve with time but it doesn't cause her any pain and certainly doesn't slow her down!

Venus is a great girl who would make a fabulous addition to any fun, dog-loving family!

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue whose mission is to help unwanted animals in situations that could lead to harm or euthanasia. We primarily focus on animals with major medical illnesses, injuries or advanced age that are often overlooked and usually the first to be at risk of euthanasia. By partnering with shelters and the public, we promote responsible pet ownership, spay and neuter, and the adoption of special needs pets. It is our goal to save the un-savable!
