My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Niles
This handsome boy is Niles. He was rescued from a high kill shelter, where he had run out of
time. He’s a young pup and looks to be a lab mix. He has a friendly and sunny demeanor. Niles
has taken a deep breath and is finally decompressing from his close call.
He’s been nothing but happy and outgoing since arriving. Niles is about a year old. He has a
gorgeous black coat with white markings, laughing eyes and a warm, wide smile. He LOVES
people and other dogs. He doesn’t seem to be cat friendly and will need to be in a home without
cats. We think another active dog in the home will help keep Niles entertained and help expend
his energy. Niles is athletic, exceptionally smart and super agile. He loves to be where his
people are and where he feels safe. Niles has most likely not been shown much attention and
he lives to be loved. He is an exceptionally sweet dog that would relish being your best friend,
travel buddy, hiking companion. Niles will do best with a family or person that works from home
or will take him to work or be around to play with him. He’s a great young dog, looking for his
second chance to be welcomed into your heart and home.
If interested in Niles, please submit an application online at:
https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application
Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has
been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to
make sure all application fields were completed or please email us at
smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. All adopters must complete an approval process
which involves a reference check with a current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the
immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to
transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new
homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website:
http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe
with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also rescued from
local and area Animal Controls. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals
waiting for space to open.
Adoptions and meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only. Complete an application
and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can. An application doesn’t commit you or us
to an adoption, but it allows our coordinator to begin the review process.
