Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.
Meet Sophie!
Sophie is a 13-year-old, blind, 6 lb, long-haired Chihuahua who was surrendered to us when her owner had to go into hospice. If you are looking for a dog that never wants to leave your side, then this is the girl for you! It became instantly clear to us how much sweet Sophie was loved, and all she needed was a quick spay and dental.
Sophie requires two different eye drops once a day and a heart pill twice a day. She takes her medicines with no problem at all and the cost for all three of is $82 a month. Sophie is fine with kids and cats and pretty much ignores the other dogs in her home. Due to her blindness, she can get upset if a dog tries to get too much in her face. Sophie doesn’t walk on leash and only requires a small outside space to explore and go to the bathroom. She doesn’t do stairs and needs to be carried outside as well as supervised. Sophie can be a bit of a picky eater. She likes chicken and beef and really likes table scraps! We have a feeling she shared dinner with her previous owner most nights. : )
Sophie is a LOVEBUG! She cannot get enough of being held, cuddled and petted. If you are a homebody and want a snuggle buddy, there is no dog better. Sophie loves to hang out on the couch all day and sleep with her foster family in bed at night. She has tiny bursts of energy where she will play, but then it’s right back to being snuggled. Sophie loves her people with all her heart, and needs the perfect family to love her back. Can it please be yours?
