Katie is shy and sometimes can look intimidating because she’s a big girl who often has “resting b__ face.” She really is just nervous and it takes a bit to gain her trust. She does enjoy getting gentle pets, especially cheek rubs. When Katie lived in a foster home, she loved to snuggle and sleep with her foster mom at night. But shelter life can be overwhelming and scary, so Katie doesn’t always show her best side to potential adopters.
Shortly after Katie came to us as a kitten, she was diagnosed with FIP. Runaways believes all kitties deserve a chance, so we fought this awful disease that until a few years ago was considered fatal. Katie went through treatment, which sadly includes almost three months of a daily, painful injection. This may be why she’s still a little leery of some human interaction.
Katie mostly keeps to herself and loves to nap on a sunny window perch, but when she’s in the mood, she’ll engage in a quick play session. She likes automatic toys with dangly feathers that bounce and turn randomly and she likes to wrestle with a fluffy, kicker toy.
Katie is the best girl, she just needs someone patient who will give her time to acclimate and in turn, you will be rewarded with a lifetime of Katie love! Come bring this big girl home!
