My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Boy Looking for his Forever Home

DIETER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:   Dieter       Best Guess for Breed:   Lab and terrier mix

Best Guess for Age:   1 year as of September 2023

Approximate Weight:   32lbs as of July 20; might have gained a bit since then

Gets Along With:  We haven't seen Dieter with kids or cats. but he can be tested. Dieter got along well with other dogs in playgroups in the shelter, but we think he would like to shine as the only dog in the home.

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.

Check out this video of Dieter: https://youtube.com/shorts/P5VfJmk0WtU?feature=share.

Dieter is Looking For: A forever home - could it be with you?  I enjoy long walks to the park and falling asleep on the couch to re-runs of Friends, Phoebe is my favorite.  Other dogs have told me my German accent is a bit thick, but I am working on my English.  Can't wait to debate the merits of strudel with you over treats, walks, and trips to Starbucks for pup cups!

What My Foster Says About Me:  Dieter is such a great pup. He loves belly rubs and cuddling - having him melt into you just makes the day great.
He's really good about being chill in the home and expending his youthful energy outside - he loves his walks, and likes his games of catch. He's super food motivated and that helps with training as well. Inside, he's also good in the crate and doesn't have accidents in the house.

He's overall a fun guy to have around, and because he's chill in the home - a great WFH companion as well.

Special Adoption Considerations: Dieter loves his people more than anything and would like to be the only pet in the home.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
