My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Magoo is a lover not a fighter, but because of his lack of socialization and his messed up beginnings he is afraid of other dogs - so when confronted his 130lbs of fear step in and he gets defensive. He needs an owner with experience to guide and protect him from any possible bad decisions. Serious inquiries only!! Currently he is listed as a "forever lucky one" looking for a perfect person to help him be the best dog he can be!! Until he gets the training and commitment to become adoptable, he will remain a forever lucky one.

What does that mean?

Due to health and sometime behaviors all dogs in our Forever Lucky One program live in long-term foster homes. Lucky K9 covers all costs associated with their care. The forever foster family provides a loving home for the remainder of their days.
Lucky K9 continues their medical care for the remainder of their lives. Sanctuary dogs typically have life long needs that prevent them from being adopted, but deserve the individual care provided by living in a home.

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our dogs!!

o Adoption fees cover: Spay/neuter, clear stool sample, HW test for dogs brought in over 4-mths of age, all required vaccinations and a clean bill of health from our veterinarian. Puppies will have all age-appropriate vaccinations; however, follow-up vetting may be required depending on age but are covered by the rescue at our veterinarian.

o If you are interested in one of our dogs, please submit an adoption application. An application is REQUIRED to meet our dogs unless you come to a meet/greet event.

ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LKR/Dog

o If the dog is listed on pet sites, it is available for
adoption; it is not necessary to call/email to ask if they are available.

o As a foster-based rescue, we do not have facility for you to come visit our dogs which is why an application is required prior to meeting.

o Meet/Greet Events: You can visit our website to find our when we have scheduled meet/greet events www.luckyk9rescue.org.

o Adoption Process: An application is submitted and approved, a meet/greet is scheduled and a home visit is required. The adoption process takes at minimum of a week AFTER your application has been approved and a meet and greet scheduled.

o Once applications are submitted – if you meet the minimum requirements for the dog you are interested in, the application is forwarded to the foster for their review. It can take time for us and the foster to review all the applications received. This part of the process can take a few weeks, sometimes more. Due to the number of applications we receive for all the dogs/puppies we are not able to respond to everyone as to the status of their application. You will be contacted if you are selected to schedule a meet/greet.

o If selected as a potential adoptive family you will be contacted by phone, text or email to schedule a meet/greet. Because we are all volunteers and have full-time jobs & families out adoption process does take time. Forever homes are chosen based on the dog’s personality and the applicant we feel offers the best fit for the dog. Please be patient with us through this process.

o Adoption decisions are based input from both the foster family and the board requirements. >> Adopters are selected based on the best fit for the dog and are not selected on a first come first serve basis.

Thank you for your interest in one of our dogs!!

More about this rescue

Lucky K9 Rescue "Lucky K9" is a section 501(c)(3) dog rescue group, incorporated in 2016, with years of animal and rescue experience amongst our volunteers. "Lucky K9 " is committed to helping the most needy, as well as the readily adoptable, among our community's most vulnerable creatures. We are dedicated to restoring the dogs under our care to physical and emotional health as they await placement in loving, responsible homes.

Just like many smaller rescue organizations, Lucky K9 Rescue is 100% volunteer driven. We all work regular full-time jobs and many have families as well. Being a foster-based rescue organization, means all our dogs live in the loving homes of our volunteer foster families.

We do not adopt out dogs until they have had time to decompress (typically 3-6 weeks), are fully vetted, we get to know their personalities and ensure there are not any underlying concerns or health issues.
