Hello Pacific Northwest!!! My name is Dexter and I was rescued as a stray in Puerto Rico. Some kind people at the Puerto Rico Dog Fund (PRDF) got me a great foster home after vetting me to make sure I was healthy and ready for my family. I have been on my preventative medications (NextGuard and Heartworm prevention) for a couple months now. I am too young to be neutered, but my adopter will be responsible for that once my perfect home is chosen. The vet has given me a good bill of health, and estimated my age at 4 months old.
My foster mom and dad are in Gig Harbor, WA and say I am a total goof and LOVE to play! I like toys of any type: purchased ones, sticks, balls, and… boxes! They are so fun to toss! I am a fast and furious playmate with LOTS of puppy energy to burn; chase me, toss a ball, I’d love that. I can be very independent, and although I like my cuddles (picking me up, not really so much on a lap), once I am tuckered out, I prefer to lay on a blanket at your feet. I am learning my leash manners, and doing well with that because I am extremely treat-motivated, so I listen really well. I am also fully crate trained and put myself to sleep at night. Once it’s closed, I only whine if I need a potty break (I’m still young, people… I can’t hold it all night!) 🙂. I also like to watch TV with my foster family - they watch alot of animal shows and I get to bark at the screen and try to find these friends at the back of the telly; they are very elusive, so I have not caught up with on yet. HA!
I hope you will consider adopting me! I would love to have a full time family of my own, maybe some kids, grandkids, or visiting little people to play with would be great. My adoption fee covers my vaccinations received so far, and the flight I took to get to your area. I am so stinkin’ cute the PRDF team believes I will be adopted quickly.
