My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, I'm Buster! I'm your loyal companion with impeccable manners. Sit? You betcha! Especially if there are treats involved! I might seem a tad shy around new faces, but just give me a moment to sniff things out and I'll warm right up! Once I'm outside, my nose takes the lead. Every scent is an adventure worth exploring. I'm open to making new furry friends, but let's start with a meet and greet to ensure we're a paw-fect match. As for cats, well, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any yet. So here I am, patiently waiting for my forever home! Come see me today!

More about this shelter

WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
