My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Myers is a large and lively German Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his paws! He was found on a rural County Road in Northeast Texas on 8-5-23. He was not wearing a collar, and had not been microchipped. We have confirmed he was intentionally abandoned by his former owners.

Estimated to be about 2 years old, Myers has a big personality and love of adventure, making him a great fit for an active person who is ready to make him the center of their world. His fluffy coat (which he loves having brushed) and big, sweet face will charm anyone he meets.

Myers is friendly, adaptable, and quick to love. He is crate-trained, potty-trained, & leash-trained, although he is still working on his leash manners when it comes to pulling. Because of his size, Myers can be tough to physically manage and will need someone able to meet the physical demands of such a large and strong dog. Myers is always enthusiastically ready to load up in the car, and you will definitely be laughing when you see him chase water from the hose.

We aren’t sure how Myers feels about cats or children. Given proper introductions Myers gets along with other dogs, however he would likely be best suited having other large-breed dogs as playmates simply due to the risk of injury due to his size. We do know that Myers is not a fan of cows, so he would not be a good fit for a home with livestock animals.

We know this is a big ask, but Myers is a big guy who’s deserving of big miracles. His foster/finder is willing to personally transport Myers to you if needed.

We would love to talk with you more about this giant floofball of a dog. Adoption Questionnaire can be found at the link below, or reach out via email!

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in adopting from 7 Pups from the Pines! We sincerely appreciate your decision to adopt a rescue pet, and we hope that we can facilitate finding your new best friend. We know the application may seem intimidating and overwhelming. We recognize each animal as an individual, and use this application only as a first step in facilitating a conversation to determine if the proposed adoption is in the best interest of both the puppy and your family. We will consider any home where the animal’s needs will be met and they will be loved. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion as part of our approach to pet adoption. We do not discriminate based on race, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, socioeconomic status, age, or any other factor that does not affect your ability to love and care for a pet. Our sole purpose is to place these animals in loving homes compatible for their needs.

Because we are extremely committed to the puppies in our care, we have a structured adoption process in place. We also want our potential adopters to know that this is a mutually selective process. While this application is the first step in the process, we believe a conversational approach is the best way to develop a trusting relationship necessary for a successful adoption. 7 Pups from the Pines is committed to our adopters, and is here to serve as a source of support, advice, and as a safety net for these animals throughout the entirety of their lives.

If we feel that there is the potential for a successful match after reviewing your application, we will contact you to arrange a home visit, contract review, and meet & greet with the puppy(s). We require at least a 48-hour waiting period following this meeting, so that each party is allowed the opportunity to thoughtfully evaluate their decision to proceed with the adoption. On adoption day, we will bring the puppy to your home, both parties will sign the adoption contract, exchange the adoption donation, provide all veterinary/health records, and any supplies/comfort items belonging to the puppy. Then, it’s time to begin your new adventure with your new best friend.

Go meet their pets

We participate in local adoption events, and do meet & greets with potential adopters following an approved application.

More about this rescue

Since 2013 we have taken in & re-homes several abandoned/unwanted dogs & puppies from our rural community. We have always assisted these dogs in distress without regard to age, breed, or ease of placement.

In March of 2022 we came upon a litter of seven stray, 3-week old puppies in the woods near our home. Their mother was found deceased nearby.

The pups were brought into our home and raised alongside our family & pets as we began the search the find their forever families. With the guidance of a longtime friend and animal rescue professional based in Ontario, Canada, we developed a structured process to ensure each puppy a successful adoption based on their individual personality & needs.

Entirely self-funded, we have been committed to meeting all of the puppies physical, emotional, & medical needs as they have grown & developed.

We believe in a barrier-free adoption process that is inclusive of all individuals. We are committed to diversity, equity, & inclusion as part of our approach to pet adoption.

We are also passionate about promoting community education, reform, & shifting the local cultural mindset to reflect one that shows compassion towards all creatures.
