My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How delicious is a dapple? Vince is no exception to that hard and fast rule. This boy has personality in SPADES! He is such a cool little wiener dog with a curious way of seeing the world.
His previous owners loved him but did not have the means to care for him properly when he suffered an IVDD back injury. Once he came into DREAM, we took Vance in right away to see our specialist vet, who performed surgery on three ruptured discs. Since then, he's gone through physical therapy and his foster mama is a pro at helping him through all of his stretches and exercises, and short of getting him a Pilates reformer, he's gotten the works for sure.
While the surgery and therapy has helped him greatly, he will need to be expressed to help him to go potty. When kept on a schedule of expressing, he’s house trained . To help him get around, Vance has a new set of wheels and he absolutely loves rolling around exploring all the world has to offer. He's a friendly little muppet who loves his people and has the gumption to thrive no matter his circumstances. It's impossible to be around him without smiling.
If you are interested in adopting Vance, you can fill out an application right on our website. Go to our online adoption application. Vance's adoption fee is $400.

All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Vance will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.

Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.

Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.

DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.

More about this rescue

We envision a time when every dachshund in Georgia has a loving home for its entire life. We believe that the welfare of our companion animals is an indication of the health of our society. We see the current welfare of our companion animals as a disease. To treat the symptoms of this disease, we rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dachshunds in need. To treat the causes of this disease, we educate the public on compassionate dog guardianship of any breed. We want to have a deep, direct impact in a limited geographic area, rather than a small impact in a large geographic area.
