Maizie is a sweet, affectionate goober. She is almost 2 years old. She loves being with her person/people and she wants to please. She has bursts of energy, especially when she’s let out of her crate in the morning and she likes to play, but other than that she is pretty chill. She loves to be with her people and she’s happy to follow you around and hang out wherever you are. She’s been through a lot, and she does need some basic training for confidence and reassurance. We're working on this in her foster home. She is thriving there and gaining more and more confidence. She absolutely loves dogs (all sizes) and she loves cars. She plays hard and respects when another dog tells her to back off but then she'll come back again in case they changed their mind and want to play. If she lives with another dog, it would be best if that dog is playful like her. She is shy and timid with new people, and she will bark at them. She is just scared and needs more exposure to new people. She would benefit from a compassionate adopter that would help her know she is safe. She does best meeting new people if they ignore her for 15-20 minutes until she decides they are safe. If you want to speed up the process, take her to your car with the person and then she's their best friend immediately. She makes friends for life, so once she meets you, you’re in. She thrives in a home with a routine. She would make a great running, walking, hiking partner and has no problem keeping up. She is so sweet. She is housetrained and crate trained and goes in her crate easily. She likes to have some toys in her crate when she has to be in there. She has no food or toy guarding issues and she is non-destructive. She is very affectionate and eager to please and she loves snuggles. She is very treat/food motivated and takes food gently from your hand. She is very easy to train. She has been fine around cats, but we recommend a slow introduction since she is larger and playful. Maizie needs a foster or adopter before Thanksgiving. Mazie was left in a crate outside a Banfield Animal Hospital with a note that said they are no longer able to care of her. She was taken to the pound where she developed pneumonia and was dying there. She was pulled out by a kind woman who fostered her and brought her back to health. That foster could only keep her for a few weeks and now she is with another foster until Thanksgiving. If she doesn't have a permanent home by then, she will need another foster home to keep her from going back to the shelter. Age: 2 years Weight: 48 lbs Temperament: Gets along with all adults and older respectful kids, dogs and cats with slow intro. Training: House trained and Crate-trained.
