My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing the one and only Shadow, the tricolor and black Chihuahua mix with a smooth coat and a personality that`s larger than life! This tiny ball of fur may be small in size, weighing in at a mere 5.20 lbs, but don`t let that fool you. Shadow has more spunk and sass than a Hollywood diva!

Now, don`t you dare underestimate Shadow`s age. The shelter staff may think he`s about 7 years old, but this little guy has the energy and spirit of a pup who just discovered a brand new chew toy. Age is just a number, my friends, and Shadow is proving that every day.

Oh, did I mention that Shadow is currently lounging in a foster home? That`s right! This little charmer has been impressing the shelter folks with his irresistible charm and quirky antics. They`ve got all the insider info on Shadow, so don`t hesitate to ask about him. Trust me, you won`t be disappointed.

Since August 01, 2023, Shadow has been eagerly awaiting his forever home. He`s been practicing his puppy dog eyes and perfecting his `take me home` dance routine. All he needs is that special someone who can appreciate his unique blend of cuteness and sass.

So, what are you waiting for? Get in touch with the shelter and ask about Shadow. Give this pint-sized superstar the chance to shine in your home and steal your heart. But be warned, once you meet him, there`s no turning back. Prepare for a lifetime of laughter, love, and endless cuddles with the one and only Shadow!

More about this shelter

Volunteers needed now. Are you an animal lover, do you have a couple of hours each week to volunteer? Many opportunities available. Work with dogs, cats, bunnies, office work, fostering and more. For more details on volunteering contact Michelle Maltun at (805) 345-5741.

We care for stray and homeless animals, including cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, rabbits and other animals such as chickens, guinea pigs or iguanas. We always hope the family will come to reclaim their lost pet, but if not, we work to find a loving new family for them.

We ensure that dogs are current on their rabies vaccination and license.

At Animal Services, our goal is to ensure that all the animals in our County have a safe place to live. We work hard to find loving homes for the many dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals that come into our care. Together, with community partners and concerned citizens, we are making sure that all these animals have a "Forever Home!"
