My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scout’s Story: Scout will be coming into foster on or around February 11th. We hope this Valentine's Day will be the beginning of the lifetime of love he deserves, as he's had a very rough start. So far, we know only what the shelter has told us, as follows: "Scout" is a male, black & white, 1 to 1-1/2 year old Sbierian whose previous owners were homeless and abandoned him in the backyard of a vacant house. He did well on our shelter's temperament test (we use the Emily Weiss SAFER test) in every area! The only area needing work was some slight food aggression -- not at all unexpected in a dog who has been abandoned and left to starve!" He will surely thrive in the foster environment and make an excellent companion for some lucky person or family!

More about Scout: Imagine losing everyone you’ve ever known in your short life because your family fell into hard times and you were abandoned and left all alone. Being good or bad had nothing to do with it because this little man is a really fine boy. This poor pup was abandoned by the only family he knew when they became homeless too.

Scout is a very sweet youngster and as he looks up with those haunting blue eyes, it is obvious that he would like nothing better than to nestle up to you and begin to trust again. Life has dealt him a tough break but this pup is picking up the pieces and trying hard to fit in with his foster family already. He is already looking for approval and has brought with him some pretty good house manners. He lets you know when he wants to go out, know some basic commands and is learning as he goes along. He doesn’t want to let people too far out of his sight and is always willing to give a snuggle and kiss in appreciation for any kindness. Scout will be an excellent candidate for obedience school and will be sure to make whoever is on the other end of his lead proud. He wants reassurance and acceptance and is happy to receive praise. He wants to be “your good boy.” This little boy gets along very well with other dogs and is respectful to the alpha dogs in his foster home too. He appears to be okay with the cats in the household as well. What we have here is a Siberian pup who is appreciative of what he has in life and doesn’t want to lose it again. This little lad wants to belong.

It is suspected that he was fed on table scraps instead of dog food by his previous family as he sits patiently by the table and waits expectantly for his share of dinner. He came into rescue considerably underweight and in need of some TLC. If life for the family was tough, it is understandable to believe that life was even tougher for this poor little pup. While he was somewhat protective of his food bowl in the beginning, he is not showing signs of aggression. He is just very hungry and is eating whatever is put in front of him. He can use an extra 10 to 15 pounds on his little body too.

He has only just begun his life and already he has endured the trials of hardship and desertion. Scout has felt the pangs of hunger, the loneliness of abandonment and the apprehension of starting over again. If you have love in your heart and room in your home for this little man, he is sure to return that love abundantly day after day and make you proud. Sharing a life together, to Scout, means its forever.

Updates: Coming as applicable

This dog's adoption donation is $225. If you know how much it costs to give a new dog responsible vet care, you can easily see that this is quite a bargain! He has had a complete health exam, has already been neutered, is microchipped, has tested negative for heartworm, has been kept on heartworm and flea preventative, is fully vaccinated and free of parasites.
