My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Redds, the most resilient and sweetest boy you'll ever meet.

WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: Redds came into a local shelter completely emaciated. For a dog his size, he should have been 60-70 lbs and was barely 30 lbs upon intake. Thankfully, with time, love, and an amazing vet / fostering team he has come a long way and is now a big healthy boy!

As far as his personality, you would have no idea that he's had such a rough start. He has a zest for life that he has shown to everyone who meets him. He loves balls...seriously, LOVES them. He will carry one everywhere he goes. On a walk? Got a ball. Going to take a nap? Got a ball. Going to get a snack or eat dinner? Got a ball. He will play with other toys as well, particularly ones that squeak! He loves walks, runs, and hikes. He doesn't pull on leash unless there's a really good smell to sniff, and he has good recall on a long-lead, although he's probably not a good candidate for being off leash completely unless in a fenced yard. In general he's just the happiest boy to tag along with whatever his humans are doing (watching TV, riding in the car).

Redds is a star with crate training. His current foster works a full-time in person job and he's perfectly fine to chill out at home in his crate while she's gone. He does have a dog walker who comes to the house occasionally who he is always excited to see. He's easy to exercise - 10-15 min walk or playtime in the yard and he's zonked. But he also loves a long sniffy walk or time sunbathing on the porch.

Looking to add the goofiest adventure buddy to your family? Adopt the handsome boy Redds!

More about this rescue

Laila's Legacy missions is to ensure every homeless dog - including those with behavioral or physical challenges - that comes through our doors has a chance at a better life while educating the public on breed bias, individualistic training, and the importance of spay-neuter to lower the impact of returned and abandoned animals in shelters.
