My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mr. Blue, a three and a half year old Husky/Pitbull mix (we affectionately refer to the breed mix as Pitsky).

The boy has stunningly blue eyes that draw you in, add on the black and white coat with hints of brindle undertone and you are mesmerized. Mr. blue is excited about pretty much any situation, just wanting to be a part of the action. He is still working on some of his manners such as not pulling on the leash and he is a strong boy so he would benefit from some training. But don't let that throw you off, Mr. Blue has a lot of good traits. One of those is that he is super food motivated which makes it easy to get his attention and should make training a breeze!

Mr. Blue has also met several other large breed dogs in the play yard and has done well with all of them. He really just wanted to play and if the other dog started to get worked up with his enthusiasm, he was easy to redirect by calling his name. We think with some structure and training Mr. Blue has all the building blocks to make a fantastic dog for someone who enjoys and active companion.

Mr. Blue went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He was quiet for the whole event and walked with both the staff and the public. Mr. Blue had no issue being pet or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He spent all night being a really good boy and was happy for every pet he got.

Mr. Blue is located at our Ellensburg shelter.

If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.

A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.
