You cannot help but smile when spending time with sweet Ella. This six year-old, Plott Hound mix is shy and coy when she first meets you but something clicks after she completes her thorough sniff down and she invites you into her circle of love. From that point on, she will always greet you with the happiest of wiggles, sneaking in a kiss or two and making sure you are always close by. Ella joined our Satchel's family recently when her family's circumstances changed and they were no longer able to keep her. Although initially shy, Ella seems to love all people but she can be selective with other dogs. Come meet Ella today and decide for yourself if she is the perfect companion you've been looking for. Their adoption process

1.
Meet the Pet

All household members must meet the pet. If you are adopting a dog, introductions to any animals currently in the home must also to occur.

2.
Submit Application

You may submit an application prior to meeting the pet of choice if you prefer to have your application approved prior to meeting/intros.

3.
Approve Application

The application is thorough process. Household approval and references (vet and personal) checked which sometimes takes up to 7-10 days.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

sign the contract, pay the adoption fee and take your furever friend home. If there are other pets your new friend will be delivered home

Additional adoption info

All of our rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up to to date on their vaccinations and microchipped. The adoption fee is $225 for puppies under a year old, $175 for adult dogs ages 1-7, and $135 for senior dogs 8 and over. The adoption fee for kittens under a year is $100, $75 for adult cats 1-10, and $35 for senior cats 11 and over.

More about this rescue

Satchel's Last Resort is a no-kill animal shelter/sanctuary whose mission is to Rescue, Rehab and Rehome dogs and cats with nowhere else to go because of breed, behavior or medical issues.

Each resident that comes to Satchel’s has its own unique and personal history. We get to know each one individually – favorite toy, favorite game, favorite foods. The dogs are housed in an airy shelter with spacious kennels, take three or four romps in the playard or walks per day, and even take car rides to let their fur flap in the wind. Cats are housed in two open cat room settings and receive social interaction with staff and volunteers every day. Most important to us -- we keep our dogs and cats safe from other residents and from humans who may want to harm them.

Trainers work with the dogs a few times a week to teach them that they can trust humans and other animals. Staff and volunteers work with our cats to keep them socialized or help them learn to trust again. We actively seek forever homes tailored to the needs of every individual pet so that they can live the rest of their lives among a family of their own.

At Satchel’s Last Resort, we believe that by harnessing the unconditional love that the dogs and cats in our sanctuary put forth everyday, the world becomes a brighter place for animals and people. Each and everyday we try to give a little of their love back – back to the pets and back to our community.
