My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable little guy is Kopuk (pronounced cue-pick), a 1 year old boy who recently arrived from Turkey. Kopuk was found wandering the streets near Bursa and fortunately our rescuer scooped him up. Kopuk looks like a combination of a golden retriever, Great Pyrenees, and corgi all mixed into one….and he looks like a perpetual puppy!

Kopuk is very playful and loves all toys and happily goes shopping in every toy basket to find his next ‘prize’. He is living with other dogs at his foster home, and loves playing chase when he gets the zoomies. Kopuk loves his walks, and does pretty well on leash…until he sees a squirrel 😂!

Kopuk loves his people and can’t get enough cuddling. He will happy lay with you on the couch, sleep with you in bed, and give you hugs. He is a smart pup and is practicing sitting before a meal, giving paw, and waiting with his foster family. Kopuk has had very good house manners and has left his foster family’s belongings in tact. A few stuffed toys have lost limbs, but that’s understandable! Kopuk hasn’t had any potty accidents at his foster home.

Kopuk is leery of strangers, especially if they are walking towards him. He will bark and raise his hackles if he’s scared. If he is allowed to approach the new person first, he is more comfortable. His forever family will need to be patient with him as he learns to trust that new people are safe. He will also alert bark appropriately (ex. when someone comes to the door).

If you’re looking for a precious young boy to join your family, and you will be patient as he continues to settle in and learn that new people are ok…Kopuk might be the one for you.
