My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Puppies less than 16 weeks old cannot be placed in apartment complexes as they cannot go out in communal areas until about 10 days after their last vaccine at 16 weeks.

Dusty needs:
-Someone home most of the day to continue housetraining
-Active adult home or one with children at least 8 years of age because of my size/shyness
-Everyone in the home sure footed to keep us all safe
-No apartments or condos because I’m not fully vaccinated

My name is Dusty. I’m an adorable 13-week-old (born July 8, 2023) 5-pound Female Cihuahua mix puppy. They say my fur is white but my foster mom says I’m more of a little Blondie.

I came from a home with a lot of dogs and not many people so I’m a little shy and I’m starting to like that cuddle thing that people do with me. I had never been outside before coming to SBRET – I’m working on my harness/leash training and I’m doing really well as long as the leash doesn’t touch my little body. My foster mom started taking me out and letting me roam the secured fenced yard with her watching after I started trusting and coming to her when she claps her hands. I’m working on outside potty skills which is new to me also-- you need to have patience with me. I should make the transition soon if I’m taken out often on a regular routine. If close by and I know where they are, I do use pee pads when I’m not taken out in time. To continue my housetraining I would need someone home most of the day. It takes me a little bit to warm up but once I do I get very excited to see you. I do like to play a lot and would need either a person or another playful pup to keep me busy. Adults need to be active/sure-footed and children need to be at least 8 years of age because of my shyness and size. I sleep quietly all night in my crate and as soon I wake I will need to go outside to potty. My foster mom also crates me when she needs to do things around the house or leave the house for a short time (she checks on me via camera) and I just nap or play with a chew toy until she returns. She also crates me when we ride in the car to keep me safe. I like the other dogs in my foster home but some of them don’t want to play - they just want my chew toys.

I’m up to date on vaccines for my age. No condo or apartment living for me because I can’t be in any common areas until I’m fully vaccinated. I will need one more round of vaccines due on Oct. 31 and they will be complete. I’m spayed, microchipped and up to date on my flea and heartworm preventions. If you have the time and are ready to help me learn all this puppy stuff, contact my friends at SBRET.COM get your application approved and we can chase the fall leaves together real soon. My adoption fee is $175.
