My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Roxy!

This sweetie is your typical big gal personality in a tiny dog size that most chihuahua lovers know, love, and understand!

Roxy came to us as an owner surrender from ACCT Philly- where her owners said they no longer had time for her. Hard to imagine, as she’s a pretty low maintenance pup when it comes to this sometimes, barky and excitable breed. True to form, she LOVES her people that are closest to her , and is slowly but surely learning to widen her circle of friends. She will do best in a home that is low traffic, calm and accepting. When she first landed in her foster home, her margin of trust was very small. She seems to have been a pup that was not well socialized, and had one or two caregivers. Her fear response is a growl- letting you know she’s afraid, once you win her trust, she’s yours forever. She also takes any corrections very well, and from a pup who doesn’t seem to have had much leash time - walks are now a favorite part of her day !

Roxy is being fostered in a home with large, small, male and female dogs. She co-exists wonderfully with the pups who explore but don’t invade her space. She is very respectful of all the other pups in return.

Roxy is a great eater, and takes treats nicely. Her foster home feeds each dog separately- no bowl sharing and when the meal is done, bowls are picked up for the day- this seems to work great for her! She is ALMOST housebroken- but we never say 100% - she does well with a scheduled potty break a few times a day, but probably would not do well with an owner who has a 8-10 hr workday. We would also say apartment living won’t work as she likes to alert you of new people and happenings outside - that being said - she is a quiet dog more times than not, and after a good walk is a low maintenance dog for the day!
