My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pliny!

The ancient and wise philosopher Pliny the Elder told us that bigger is better, and this four-legged Pliny is better and wiser than the best! Pliny is a four-year-old Shepherd mix who has lived at the Carlsbad shelter since January.

He is tan and white, weighs 104 lbs, and is current on vaccinations. He is a calm, low-maintenance, affectionate, medium-energy boy with big, soulful eyes and a loving disposition. He is house-trained, knows "sit" and other commands, and walks nicely on a leash. From his perspective, there is no need to hurry, so he takes his time and keeps an eye on his handler while sniffing the shelter grounds and smelling the flowers. And like any wise dog, Pliny loves car rides, treats, and learning new commands and tricks (with treats, of course!). After nine months of living in the shelter, Pliny still obediently crawls onto his kennel cot every night, dreaming that his "fairy dog parents" will come and take him to his forever home tomorrow.
