My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Judy (paxtonj@live.com), (865) 300-8146 for more information about this pet.

Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.

Adopting a friend:
The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.

What you need to do to adopt:
If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done.

Meet & Greets:
An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.

Bruce is a five and a half year old lab mix, about 60 lbs, He has no tail. Not sure if he was born that way or it was removed when he was a puppy. He loves all toys, especially balls. He knows basic commands and is great with other dogs. Not alpha. He not only brings you toys and balls to play fetch, but he keeps moving it towards you until you do throw it. If you do not play with him, he will just toss it around by himself. He is very athletic and very smart. Very happy boy.

He likes to sleep with you. Until he gets hot. Then he is happy in the floor. He loves car rides and doing whatever you are doing. He would love to have an active family and a canine friend who likes to play. He needs a fenced yard but, must be left inside when you leave. It is due to mild separation anxiety, but he is not destructive. Give him a chew bone that will last a while and he is fine while you are gone. If left outside when you leave, he will jump the fence and try to follow you. A five+ foot fence or electric fencing would solve this problem. He is climber, not a digger.

Bruce's front teeth have been worn down by chewing. It does not stop him from chewing, eating, and playing tug o war. He is housebroken. He is neutered, totally vetted, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on preventives.

If you would like more information or would like to meet Bruce, please contact Judy at judy@almosthometn.org or 865-300-8146. ADOPTION FEE: $100

Please fill out an adoption application on www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, contact Judy above and she will email it to you in a different format. Adoption process includes a contract, home visit, and one week trial period.

ADOPTION FEE:

The adoption fee for a cat is $85.

The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets.

The adoption fee for a dog is $200.

The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets.

Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced.

The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer.

We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need.

NOTE: Some cats and dogs have a different fee than those listed above. It is noted on their posting. Mature pet adoption fees are lower to encourage people to adopt these wonderful animals who have a lot of love to give. The adoption fee for pure bred or desirable mixed breed dogs and cats is based on the average fee charged by area rescues and/or breed specific rescues.

ADOPTION FEES COVER LESS THAN 75% OF THE COST OF VETTING OUR ANIMALS. WE RELY ON DONATIONS AND GRANTS TO COVER THE REMAINDER.
