My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Taco was rescued from a home in Virginia after a 4Paws volunteer learned that the parents didn't want him any longer and planned to just put him out on the street.

He loves human attention for petting. He has big bursts of energy and will run around the house. He plays with several resident cats, often rough-and-tumble. He tends to be a door dasher, so he is not suitable for a home with small children who have not yet mastered the art of keeping doors closed, both interior and exterior. Adults also need to be very aware that he can be right behind you when you are opening a door and that he can be quick. He is super curious what interesting things may lie on the other side of a door.

He has a great appetite, with all-day access to a high quality chicken kibble and twice-daily servings of juicy Fancy Feast, which he loves (and he is very vocal when he knows food is coming his way). In fact eating seems to be a Olympic sport a which he always wins gold. He will try to steal the other cats' food, even off your plate too. He has good litter box manners and is used to a high-sided litter box with unscented litter.

Taco needs to go to a home with another young kitty of his same energy level, he loves to play and is very social with other cats. He will need lots of toys to bat around. He was easily integrated into his foster home and got along with the resident cats quickly.

Taco was born around late January 2023. He is neutered, current on vaccines, tested negative for FiV/FeLV, and has been micro chipped.

*** PLEASE NOTE***

4Paws will only consider local adoptions (Northern VA / DC / MD metropolitan area)

4Paws does not adopt to students

Kittens under 6 months old need to go to a home that already has another active cat of similar age. Otherwise they need to be adopted with a kitten from their current foster home or a kitten from another 4Paws foster home.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

At the adoption fairs, if you meet a kitten or cat that you want to adopt, you will be asked to complete an application and contract and leave a check for the adoption fee ($120 for an adult or $145 for un-neutered kitten of which $50 is a deposit that is refunded after you provide 4Paws proof of sterilization). We ask that you pay the adoption fee up front at the fairs in order to “put a hold” on the cat until your application is processed. If your application is not approved, your check is returned to you.

Neither cats nor kittens are sent to their new homes on the day of the fair. It usually takes 4-5 days to process the application before the cat can go to his or her adoptive home. Pre-approval is an option, though. To accelerate the adoption process, you can fax a completed application and contract to us at 703-560-9795 a few days before the fair. Adoption Applications are available on this website.

Go meet their pets

Adoption fairs are held once or twice a month at various PETCO stores in Northern Virginia. The adoption fairs are usually held on Saturday’s from 1:00 to 5:00. Between 30 and 60 cats and kittens are shown for adoption at each fair—with the larger fairs generally occurring April through October.

While they are waiting to find permanent loving homes, our cats temporarily live in foster homes. The foster families bring the cats and kittens to the adoption fairs to be seen by potential adopters. Applicants have the opportunity to handle the cats and in some cases, meet the foster parents who can provide additional insight into a cat’s habits and personality.
