My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Audrey is a highly intelligent but shy girl, who enjoys long sessions of play and is very acrobatic, finding new and imaginative way of contorting her body to achieve her goals. While she is full of energy, loves to play and love giving and receiving affection from other cats, she like to get the lay of the land before she commits to new adventures, carefully thinking out how things work and who and what can be trusted. Audrey is not the biggest fan of people approaching her-rather she prefers to take her time to get close to others.

Audrey loves to chase the feather wand and enjoys playing with other cats, but she can be skittish when around many humans. As such, she can come across a bit shy and reserved, but once she gets comfortable, she loves to park herself close to people. She is a little apprehensive at seeking petting and physical affection from people, but she has no aggression at all towards people (choosing to retreat to another location when initially patted).

She has a sweet personality, which is evident when you do get to gain her trust. Audrey is never aggressive. She absolutely loves playing with other cats, and even loves to groom and sleep alongside other cats. She is also quick to warm up to other cats, as she sees them as her equal and not big and scary like some people.

Audrey is not picky with her food at the moment. She eats Science Hill Perfect Weight dry food, and is fond of Tiki Cat wet food.

Audrey would be a perfect match for a young household without children but who have another cat she can play with, and who are not looking for a cat to be their whole world, but who love the entertainment a cat can bring and the patience to let her become more confident in approaching people for hugs and petting. She would do best in a home with at most two people, but ideally one. Audrey can also be adopted with her foster brother Dudley.

Audrey's estimated birthdate is December 2022. She is spayed, current on vaccines; tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and has been microchpped.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

At the adoption fairs, if you meet a kitten or cat that you want to adopt, you will be asked to complete an application and contract and leave a check for the adoption fee ($120 for an adult or $145 for un-neutered kitten of which $50 is a deposit that is refunded after you provide 4Paws proof of sterilization). We ask that you pay the adoption fee up front at the fairs in order to “put a hold” on the cat until your application is processed. If your application is not approved, your check is returned to you.

Neither cats nor kittens are sent to their new homes on the day of the fair. It usually takes 4-5 days to process the application before the cat can go to his or her adoptive home. Pre-approval is an option, though. To accelerate the adoption process, you can fax a completed application and contract to us at 703-560-9795 a few days before the fair. Adoption Applications are available on this website.

Go meet their pets

Adoption fairs are held once or twice a month at various PETCO stores in Northern Virginia. The adoption fairs are usually held on Saturday’s from 1:00 to 5:00. Between 30 and 60 cats and kittens are shown for adoption at each fair—with the larger fairs generally occurring April through October.

While they are waiting to find permanent loving homes, our cats temporarily live in foster homes. The foster families bring the cats and kittens to the adoption fairs to be seen by potential adopters. Applicants have the opportunity to handle the cats and in some cases, meet the foster parents who can provide additional insight into a cat’s habits and personality.
