My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buska is a very pretty black and white fluffy kitty who has a distinct personality and she's all fur and attitude. She likes to nap on a chair in the sun and likes pets at times, especially on her forehead and big checks. She has a soft meow that she uses to demand for food. Don't let her quietness fool you, she warms up to humans very quickly and likes to lay near you on the couch. She's not a lap cat, but she does like to be around people or close to them. Buska is not that playful but likes to sit on her toys or near them. Buska does really get into catnip and rolls on her belly when enjoying the herbal smell. She does likes to play "chase" with the other cats.

Buska has adjusted well in her foster home. She is very laid-back and likes to smell your hands or fingers before all pets. She is a little temperamental but listens when you tell her you do not like something she does. You just have to repeat yourself and be patient. She likes to nap a lot during the day and night but comes running, with her little legs, when it is food time. She loves soft lick-able treats and purrs while eating it.

Buska is very social and is not afraid of other cats or any humans. She may hiss or growl at first when introducing other pets to her, but she comes around very quickly. She is not too happy with dogs, but just hides from them. She is very chill older cat and just wants to find her forever home and a really good sunspot.

Buska's estimated birthdate is January 2010. She is spayed, current on her vaccines, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and has been microchipped.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

At the adoption fairs, if you meet a kitten or cat that you want to adopt, you will be asked to complete an application and contract and leave a check for the adoption fee ($120 for an adult or $145 for un-neutered kitten of which $50 is a deposit that is refunded after you provide 4Paws proof of sterilization). We ask that you pay the adoption fee up front at the fairs in order to “put a hold” on the cat until your application is processed. If your application is not approved, your check is returned to you.

Neither cats nor kittens are sent to their new homes on the day of the fair. It usually takes 4-5 days to process the application before the cat can go to his or her adoptive home. Pre-approval is an option, though. To accelerate the adoption process, you can fax a completed application and contract to us at 703-560-9795 a few days before the fair. Adoption Applications are available on this website.

Go meet their pets

Adoption fairs are held once or twice a month at various PETCO stores in Northern Virginia. The adoption fairs are usually held on Saturday’s from 1:00 to 5:00. Between 30 and 60 cats and kittens are shown for adoption at each fair—with the larger fairs generally occurring April through October.

While they are waiting to find permanent loving homes, our cats temporarily live in foster homes. The foster families bring the cats and kittens to the adoption fairs to be seen by potential adopters. Applicants have the opportunity to handle the cats and in some cases, meet the foster parents who can provide additional insight into a cat’s habits and personality.
