Meet Mikey! This beautiful boy came to SafeHaven with his litter mates when he was just 3 months old. Months later, this sweet pup is still waiting for his forever family. Growing up in the shelter can be very hard on some pups and Mikey became nervous and shut down with all the loud noises and new people. He came come off scared and shy making finding adopters hard. However, the staff got to see through the fear to the wonderful pup he was. Mikey is a favorite at the shelter and we all can't wait to see him find his loving forever home. Right now Mikey is in a great foster home, being spoiled and being shown what it's like to be a family member. Within four hours of being in his foster home, Mikey was snuggled up on the couch with his two new dog friends and giving ALL the puppy loves to his foster mom. We watched his sad puppy dog eyes light up! What a difference in such a short amount of time. Over the last several weeks in foster care Mikey has gone to Home Depot and met new people, interacted with children, been crate trained and gone on many fun adventures. On Mikey's most recent visit he didn't even seem nervous to visit, he greeted everyone with happy smiles and asked for lots of pets.

More about this shelter

For over 40 years, SafeHaven Humane Society has worked to help our communities’ residents be the best humane beings they can be by providing compassionate temporary shelter care; healthy adoptable animals; information, understanding and education; and population control through spay and neuter programs, instead of euthanasia.

Mission
Finding Homes…Opening Hearts….Educating Minds to strengthen and improve the lives of animals and people.

Vision
We envision a community where every adoptable, treatable companion animal has a loving home and where every loving home has the opportunity to care for a companion animal.

Values
We are guided by the belief that no adoptable or treatable companion animal should be unnecessarily euthanized due to space, time, appearance or treatable conditions.

We are committed to:
* Giving a new chance to companion animals who would otherwise be discarded.
* Strengthening the humane animal bond through education.
* Helping people and their companion animals stay together through the support of programs and services.
* Leading responsibly with compassion.
