Meet our Dax! This sweet boy was adopted from us as just a kitten and was sadly returned to us at the age of 7 due to issues in his former home. Initially the transition back was hard on Dax, but he quickly came around to the staff. He is even happier still after recently going into a loving foster home.
Dax enjoys his alone time on occasion, but loves to play with his toys and lounging in bed with his foster dad. Dax is quite fond of his food, however, can be selective when it comes to what specific wet food he happens to be in the mood for on any given day. So best to have a few options on hand for this boy with a very refined palate.
Dax also really enjoys good conversation, so be prepared for him to approach you throughout the day to discuss one of many topics that might be on his mind at the moment (i.e. he's a vocal boy!). His foster dad has shared that if he feels like initiating the conversation, all he has to do is call Dax by name and he'll assuredly respond with a spirited meow.
Dax, and our many other cats and kittens, are eagerly awaiting homes of their very own. If you're interested in applying for any of them (Dax included, of course) please feel free to do so at rbari.org/cats.

More about this shelter
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
