My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Texas adoption only

Hi. I'm Marshall. My name means "lover of horses." Not sure that fits since I've never been around horses but I am definitely a lover of small dogs, yorkies to be more specific.
You see, foster mom has a whole gaggle of fiesty, unruly yorkies who think they run the house, (and they do...) I love nurturing them and making sure they are all present and accounted for. It's my job and I do it well. Foster mom calls it "making the rounds." In my previous life, my name was Monster. Foster mom changed my name since that definitely didn't fit me. And Monster definitely doesn't mean nice things like "loves horses :)"

You see, I am a beautiful golden colored shepherd mix that lived my whole life on a chain with no shelter from the elements. I was not valued by my owner.
DESPITE all that, I managed to like people and small dogs. Not sure about cats. I am, however, uncomfortable around big dogs. Foster mom thinks I may have been attacked by a big dog when I was on the chain. :( Can you imagine??

Enough about the sad stuff. I have really thrived in a home. I am a big old couch potato. I love to hang with my humans and yorkie buddies and watch Netflix and chill.
I love to chew my bones and my squeaky stuffed animals. I love to carry them around and even take them outside. I also love car rides and walks and following foster mom wherever she goes.
I just love being part of a family. I don't like spending much time outside unless my family is out there too. I am treat motivated and verrrry smart! I potty trained myself to go out the yorkie sized doggy door by watching my foster siblings.
Foster mom was quite shocked to see my 66 pound self ( now slimmed down to a sexy 60 pounds) go through a doggy door meant for 15 pounds or less. That just shows you what I'll do to be part of the action.

Despite my years, I am in good health. No other known issues. Foster mom gives me joint supplements to keep me in good shape.

So, if you are looking for a loving, loyal companion who likes to help you do rounds around the house, have your peeps contact my peeps and we'll get this love fest started!

Additional adoption info

Adoption application required.

Adoptions applications are checked by contacting references and veterinarians of those with pets to ensure our pups go to the best homes possible. We work hard to place dogs into the right families, but sometimes we realize the fit isn't quite working out for the adopter or the pet..

If an adoption does not work out and we have room to take the dog back into the rescue, we will. However, the sheer number of needy animals in TX usually means we become full quickly after the dog is adopted. So, in those cases we will post the animal locally, and help the adopter screen applicants and facilitate finding another adoptive home for the pet in your area.

Go meet their pets

We are a TEXAS based rescue who transport regularly to this area. Our dogs are in TEXAS and will be transported to you if you adopt from us.

Our pets are posted on our website, and most live in homes with their fosters. We live with our foster dogs to get to know them in a home setting and to let them know that life can be good away from the streets.

We work to correct poor behaviors, teach manners and observe each dogs particular quirks and personalities so we can give accurate observations of the dogs you are interested in.

We know that dogs will sometimes behave differently with different people but we can give you our impressions of our pups and situations they have been in.
