Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.
Bear came into a loud, scary shelter as a stray. Although frightened, he was very sweet and wrapped his skinny little legs around people, trusting that somehow he'd found safety. Well, he certainly did when we scooped him up and got him into a loving foster home!
He is a 14 pound (perhaps) terrier whippet mix? About 10 years old. Bear is wonderful with other dogs, tolerant of cats, and great with people old and young. He is housetrained if kept on a consistent let-out schedule. He does have a bit of anxiety when his person leaves, but does no damage and eventually settles down. He may have a bit of allergies, but it isn't too bad.
He would be the best visiting therapy dog! He is light, and gentle, and sits contentedly on the laps of the people we have visited in retirement homes. He is lower energy, but still loves a walk daily. And he becomes a "dancing Bear" when treats or meals are mentioned!
Bear would make a wonderful companion or family dog; his joy is contagious!
