My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Clay! He is an adorable 5 year old Pitbull-Basset hound mix (maybe some Labrador in there). He is super loving, and loves to cuddle and play. Clay arrived at our shelter on May 9th, 2022, making him, by far, our shelter's most tenured resident at nearly 700 DAYS BEING HOMELESS!
Clay was found wandering the highway and was picked up by a good Samaritan and brought to us. Clay was examined and started treatment for the wounds on his face and feet. We continued cleaning and tending to his wounds for the next two weeks while also trying to put some weight on him since he was only 33 pounds.
Clay loves human interaction and has done well around teens; however, at this time it is recommended that he is the only animal in the home. Additionally, he could benefit from some leash manners and learning how to interact with other animals.
We have partnered with Happy Active Dog, LLC to teach this gentleman all the skills necessary to make him the perfect addition to a lucky family. We need an accepted adopter prior to his training program attendance to ensure Clay has training reinforcement, especially right after graduation.
Through the generous donations of the community, Clay's board and train program has been completely sponsored!
If you are looking for a loving and loyal furry friend please give Clay a chance.

FOSTER TESTIMONIALS- "Absolutely delighted to have Clay visiting for a couple of days. He's such an amazing boy! Well behaved around the house, travels great in the car, and is super loving. He's incredibly handsome too. We're shocked he's still waiting for a home.

"This big lover boy is the sweetest baby! Loves getting scratchies behind his ears, and is a total Velcro dog! Countertops are his arch nemisis! He wants what he isn't supposed to have - popcorn was last nights target. Haha. Luckily, I saved my kettle corn stash from Delaware before he could devoure it! Haha. First day outback without a leash on, and our buddy Spike was next door. Nose taps to say hello and then Clay was off to do his business! He's just a talkative boy, his bark is definitely worse than his nibbles!
