My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Hi! I'm Kiara and you know you want to come and meet me! I'm a medium sized 2.5-year-old lab mix, but if you don't mind, I'm more than happy to be your lap dog. Belly rubs and side scritches are very much appreciated. I love food, I'm more than happy to do training with you, and I walk nicely on a leash. I'm not the least bit dog reactive when I'm out on walks. Even better, I'm crate trained and potty trained and if I need to go, I'll tell you because I'll go and stand near a door. I've lived with a foster family for five months and I've never broken or chewed up anything in the house.

My current foster family says this about me: "Kiara is a really great dog. She's so affectionate and she's a great companion on walks. She's very quiet and is capable of entertaining herself. She loves to play tug of war! At night she'll cuddle up with us on the couch and at bed time she goes right into her crate. We're sure she will make some family incredibly happy!

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
