My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Phoenix is a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix who came to us in 2020 from an Arkansas shelter where he was surrendered with his two brothers because of a family illness.

Phoenix is one of our six sanctuary dogs. He has been with us for such a long time now that we feel he would not do well transitioning to a new home. So we will continue to love and care for Phoenix in rescue. We appreciate donations towards his food/treats, monthly preventatives, and routine vet care.

My name is Phoenix. I have been with my foster dad for three years. I love him so much that I can't imagine moving to another home at my age. I am affectionate and playful. I greet my foster dad by jumping onto my dog house, putting my paws on his shoulders, and giving him a hug! I like water, playing with other dogs, and my favorite toy is a stuffed sloth. I am house trained and walk well on a leash. For a senior boy, I still really like my walks and require them. I enjoy my rural setting as I've lived my whole life on a farm with other dogs. My foster dad doesn't have cats, but I don't pay attention to them when I'm at the vet. I am neutered, up to date on vaccinations, up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped.

More about this rescue

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri is dedicated to rescuing Great Pyrenees who are without a home, need medical attention, or just need a safe haven as they transition to their forever home. We are a volunteer, nonprofit rescue, relying solely on your generous donations. We are currently working to establish our rescue facility in St. Clair, Missouri. Until our facility is constructed, we will be foster based only, with fosters in Missouri and surrounding states. We will continue to have fosters after our facility is built. Our facility will allow us to rescue more Pyrenees in need.
