Jeffrey is affectionately called Jeffrey the Jerk. He earned this moniker because he has strong opinions about other cats. He doesn't hate every cat, only just a few. But when he does have an opinion about another cat, it is very visceral. In his own room away from other cats, Jeffrey is quite sweet. He's really a good boy.
Jeffrey loves to play with his toys. He will rearrange the furniture in an effort to retrieve his toy. He has no qualms about sacrificing his own body as he dives after his toys. The mission is to retrieve his toy. He will not fail his mission. Jeffrey makes it seem like he's an entire herd of elephants but he's really only one skinny guy on a mission.
Jeffrey has two loves - his toys and lap time. He is in heaven sitting on his caregiver's lap getting petted. Throw in a nosey kiss and he is over the moon. He's a simple boy with simple needs. Toys and a lap. Maybe a few kisses.
Jeffrey has FIV (this is not a surprise since the most common way to get FIV is a bite that breaks the skin. Given Jeffrey's reactions to other cats, we're pretty sure he instigated the fight that gave him FIV). FIV is a virus that lowers his immunity. There's a lot of outdated, mis-information out there about FIV. Cats with FIV can live long, healthy lives. A lot of FIV cats can be asymptomatic their whole lives. They are more susceptible to illnesses and diseases but keeping their environment clean, reducing their stress, and taking them twice a year to the vet can help ward off chronic medical conditions. This article helps to dispel some of the common myths and is a very good read: https://www.humanesociety.org/news/fiv-positive-cats
Because Jeffrey is hit or miss with his love of other cats, it is best if Jeffrey goes to a home where he is the only cat.
Jeffrey is in foster care. To meet him in his foster home, contact our adoption specialists at adoption@kittyrevolution.org.
