My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

As the sun sets over the stray streets of Havre de Grace, a pair of cats roam the halls of their foster home together. Volney, the elder of the two, is a kindly old soul who has seen many things in his years. He was once someone's beloved pet, but that was a long time ago and a world away. He walks with a certain grace, a quiet dignity that speaks of a life lived with courage, determination, but also sorrow and loss. Beside him, a younger cat named Froggy scampers along, her eyes wide with wonder at the world around her.

Volney and Froggy are bonded in a way that few understand. Volney has taken Froggy under his paw when she was just a scared, young cat, and has become a father figure to her. In turn, Froggy has come to rely on Volney for protection and comfort, feeling safe and secure when she's near him.

While Volney can be affable, you'll have to earn his trust and affections. He's an old soul, wise to the ways of the world and familiar with how cruel humans can be. He's also very empathic and has an almost supernatural sense of someone's intentions; so if your heart's in the right place, he'll return your affections in kind.

Froggy can be shy and take a little while to warm up to new people. She, too, has felt the pain of abandonment, so trust doesn't come easy with her. It may take a season or two, but once that trust is earned and she feels secure, she won't be so guarded. Security allows her to be comfortable, contentment soon follows... When she's happy and has her "Dad" nearby, she's a bundle of energy, chasing after toys and exploring her surroundings with abandon. She loves to curl up in cozy corners and observe the world around her. She's a quiet soul, but once she gets to know you, she's the most loyal companion you could ask for. She may not be the most outgoing cat, but she's got a lot of love to give, she just needs someone patient enough to let her come out of her shell. As long as she has her "Dad"; Volney around, and her new furever family, Froggy will shine!

These two cats are inseparable, and it's clear to anyone who sees them that they are meant to be together. Volney is patient with Froggy, always ready to offer a paw or a comforting purr when she needs it. And Froggy, for her part, looks up to Volney with a mixture of admiration and affection, grateful for the love and guidance he provides. As a bonded pair, the transition to their furever family can be easier because they have each other for encouragement and
support.

If you're looking for a pair of cats who will bring joy and warmth to your home, look no further than Volney and Froggy. These two feline friends are a testament to the power of love and companionship, and are sure to bring a smile to your face every day. Contact us to come and meet them, and see for yourself why they are such a special pair.

More about this rescue

Stray Streets TNR was formed to bring compassionate care and population control to the stray and discarded companion animals of Havre de Grace. Abandoned by irresponsible former “owners” these animals have been left to fend for themselves and to breed without end. Our mission is to provide, food, veterinary care in the form of spay/neuter, vaccination & emergency services to these homeless animals and their feral offspring in the hopes of preventing their existence in Havre de Grace from being viewed as a nuisance or health hazard in the communities in which they exist. We also act as a resource to assist residents in identifying new strays that need to be fixed, giving humane tips on how keeping strays out of flowerbeds and from taking up refuge under homes and decks. Because our colony caregivers are on site every day we are also approachable to help owners needing access to low cost spay/neuter services for their own pets, as well as to help put people who need to place unwanted pets with shelters and rescues that may be able to help rather than having the animal turned out onto the streets.
