My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

10/31/23. Blair is a 60 lb. 9 month old spayed female GSD.  She is 90% potty trained and crate trained.  She is being fostered in Arlington 22204 where she lives together with Artemis 6434 and the resident male GSD.  This is not a guarantee that she will get along with every dog she meets, just a data point.

Blair was surrendered to VGSR because she went after chickens.  So be forewarned that she has some prey drive, will be distracted by squirrels and probably is incompatible with cats.

Blair has soulful, almost human eyes and is very pretty.  She is also a bit of a goofball and will try to climb all over you once she decides she likes you.

Although she can be playful, I have noticed no aggressive traits in Blair.  If anything, she is a bit shy and she will react to external stimuli such as other dogs, large vehicles, and squirrels.

What Blair needs, to make the transition from puppy to dog, is some manners, continued socialization, and desensitization from the things that make her uncomfortable.  An obedience class or other group class aimed at the above-mentioned goals is highly recommended.

Blair is quite athletic and would likely enjoy an active household.

Blair would benefit from the presence of a mature, non-threatening dog as a housemate, but will likely be ok as an only dog as well.

If you are an approved adopter and would like to help Blair along in her life journey, please contact arivederci@aol.com

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

An applicant first submits an application form with a non-refundable $10.00 (cash or check only) processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $250.00 (cash or check ONLY) minimum adoption donation to VGSR to help defray the costs of getting the dog fully vetted and ready to be adopted, and the adoption is completed.

More about this rescue

We provide a valuable service by finding good homes for the German Shepherd Dogs in our care. In the seven plus years that we have been in existence, we have found homes for over 2,400 deserving dogs. We are currently enlisting active volunteers to help with the task of placing some really wonderful, but homeless, German Shepherd Dogs. Our goal is to place all GSDs that are accepted into our Rescue in loving homes in which the GSD and the family will thrive together.
