My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Thomas Knoxville, nickname Knox.

Today Knox is 7 months old and 34lbs. He is a typical young dog, happy and healthy, full of mischief and fun. He likes to play with his doggy friends, wade in the creek and chew on any toy he can find…a few non-toy items, too!

Knox is a super lucky little guy. He was found by one of our rescue partners almost 4 months ago with both of his back legs broken. He was in very bad shape, and the vets did what they could to give him a chance. His right leg was amputated, his left was splinted and casted.

Unfortunately, the left leg became infected, and the flesh was in such terrible condition that the vet wanted to amputate that leg, as well.
Our foster – experienced in medical care – said let me try to save his leg. So Knox was transferred to her. For 6 weeks it was touch and go – daily (painful) wound care, lots of the best nutrition we could provide, and the rollercoaster of non-linear progress. But then he turned a corner, and we knew for sure that he would keep his leg.

Knox is still gaining strength and building muscle in that leg. He can’t jump up on furniture, he has to be lifted. He will never be an activity companion, though he definitely loves his adventures! He  is missing a couple of toes and has some scarring, he may need a boot eventually to protect that back foot. But he has lots to offer his forever family!

He is sweet and loving. Great with dogs. Kennel trained and 98% house trained – if he’s waiting for you to let him out and you take too long, he assumes you don’t mind if he potties inside, lol. But if you’re there to let him out – he definitely understands to go outside.
He’s a smart guy – and training would be so good for him so that he can work his little brain!
