Introducing Stanley, a true bully breed ambassador. This calm, middle-aged gent has amazingly soulful eyes, a big heart, and a spirit that emanates nonstop joy. Stanley loves people, but being the kind and thoughtful soul that he is, he approaches each new person he meets carefully and gently to show them that despite his being a bully breed, he is respectful, polite, and very well mannered. Gentleman Stanley does his best to keep his kennel tidy and to take care of his personal business during his walks outside, he knows some basic commands like "sit", he takes treats with a gentle soft mouth, he walks nicely on leash without pulling, and he always shows his gratitude for treats (especially stuffed Kongs) by wagging his tail in thanks.
Stanley wants you to know that because he is a mature gent with some world experience under his belt (uh, collar), he has a lot to offer you that younger dogs don't - Stanley is calm, well mannered, and has medium energy. That means he doesn't need tons of attention, exercise or training. Stanley's perfect life would be going on a few short walks each day followed by some naps and/or some TV or Facebook time, a bite to eat here and there, a nice stuffed Kong in the evening for happy hour, a soft bed with a blanket for the chilly evenings, and that's it. A few simple pleasures from his human in exchange for lots of wet kisses and big tail wags. What a sweet life it could be with Stanley for your pal.
You can meet Stanley at the San Diego County Animal Shelter North Campus, 2481 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad, CA 92011. The shelter is open for animal viewing Tue-Fri from 1 to 3:30 pm and Sat-Sun from 10 am until 3:30 pm. You can also meet him at other times by scheduling an appointment at (619)767-2675.
