Kaya is one of 5 cats we rescued from the basement of an elderly woman who had sold her home and needed the kitties gone the very next day. Unfortunately when we got there it became apparent that the cats didn't get enough attention or human interaction and would need some work. Kaya was pregnant and very ill when we took her in, and while she is much healthier now, she is still adjusting to her new environment. She needs an experienced cat adopter who is patient and caring, who can take the time to help her feel comfortable. Kaya currently allows herself to be pet but only justtttt a little bit. She LOVES to play and we think that we will be the key to her heart - her favorite toy is a feathered wand, which she really enjoys chasing. Her early years were spent in a basement with very little attention, but we know that with some extra tlc and an incredible adopter, Kaya can overcome her early trauma and be a loving kitten. We ask an adoption fee of $175 Which includes a general health exam, spay /neuter surgery, and microchip ID implant, Felv/FIV testing, age-appropriate vaccinations including rabies.

Meowsquad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization started in 2019. Our goal is to reduce the large stray and feral cat population of New York City by using Trap Neuter Return (TNR) techniques as well as working with the community to find forever homes for cats and kittens that can be resocialized. We also aim to relocate those who cannot be returned into safe, working environments.
