My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Grayson won’t win a frisbee award, but he’ll win first-place in snuggling every time! If going for a long,
peaceful walk and then kicking back and relaxing at home is your idea of a great way to spend time,
Grayson is your guy. He’s the perfect combination of playful and chill. After a good walk and some mild
play in the back yard, he’s ready to lay on the couch and be with his humans. Grayson is a gentle,
extremely sweet bulldog mix who is a little on the shy side but warms up quickly. He’s a very gentle dog
who listens well and learns fairly quickly, especially if treats are involved. His greatest joy is to just be
near his human, leaning into your legs when sitting on the floor next to you or sitting on the
couch. Grayson needs his forever human to spoil him!

Grayson had a hard start in life but is now healthy and ready for his forever home. He is approximately 2
years old, weighs 65 lbs., and is very strong. He has been good with children, other dogs, and cats in
his foster home. His play can be rough and he should be with dogs his size and physical strength when
playing, along with close supervision as he is just getting to a place where we are seeing his full
personality emerge. He can be a little scared and skittish when it’s really noisy or too many people are
jumping or running around, so would probably do best in a calm home. If children are in the home, he
would likely do best with older children who are dog experienced.
He is just learning how it is to be safe and have enough food. He does resource guard food with other
dogs, so is fed separately, in crate.  He does not resource guard food or other things with humans. He
will need a securely fenced back yard, 5 ft. high or more, as he digs holes at times and is large enough
to scale a 4 ft. fence if he decided he want something on the other side. (He’s never attempted to jump
his foster home’s 5 ft. fence.) No dog parks for this guy!

He is also shy in new situations and needs a calm, gentle human to be with him and help guide him
through new things as he develops more confidence. He needs someone who is dog experienced to
ensure his safety and ongoing development to become confident and well-trained. He walks great on a
leash, is learning to sit and come when called, and sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He is reliably
house-trained.

If you’re looking for a dog to add to your family, Grayson checks a lot of great boxes with potential to
check them all. He has beautiful brindle markings that sparkle in the sun and his big brown eyes will
melt your heart. He is ready to begin sharing his love with you!!
(DOB 06/17/2022) As part of Grayson's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on
age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you
have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to
adopt Grayson, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our
website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home. http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/apply-for-adoption/

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. An adoption fee of $275 for dogs under 6 months $250 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
