My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Vine, a staff favorite with a heart as big as her personality. Her demeanor is a delightful blend of sweet and mellow, with a dash of gentle curiosity. Vine was a barn cat candidate turned friendly by staff, making her an excellent companion. She may be a bit shy at first, but once she warms up to you, you'll be greeted with her gentle purrs and tender affection. She's a curious soul who loves to explore her surroundings, always on the lookout for a cozy corner or a new friend. Her mellow nature makes her the perfect fit for a peaceful home. Adopt Vine and fill your life with her sweetness and charm.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
