My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willow was about to be surrendered to the Peninsula Humane Society to be euthanized due to her uncontrolled seizure activity (she was having multiple cluster seizures per week, even though she was on seizure medications). The family’s work schedules we such that it was difficult for them to adhere to a strict medication timetable. Our rescue group was alerted to the situation and took Willow into our rescue.

We also struggled to get her seizures under control. We tried multiple combinations and strengths of different medications. Currently, she has a grand mal seizure (or sometimes a cluster of seizures) about every 4-6 weeks. That is probably as good as it is going to get for her. She takes two types of medications (Phenobarbital and Zonisamide) and that need to be given precisely every 12 hours (give or take an hour).

Nobody’s Perfekt Dogs Rescue is willing to support her vet needs after she is adopted.

Her seizures can be very dramatic, triggering other dogs to attack her. Because of that, she should be the only dog in the home. She really has no interest in interacting with other dogs, and can be a little possessive of her humans around other dogs. It would be good for her owners to be around most of the time, in case she has a seizure. However, there is not much can be realistically done during a seizure, they can last a few minutes, and in Willow’s case, she may have 2-3 seizures in a row.

Aside from her seizures, she is a very sweet, friendly, playful dog that will steal your heart.

Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13.
