My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3

***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.

We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.

Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees, but if the potential adopter is willing to pay the fees we will accept PayPal.

Beautiful Whimsy was in a brutal cell in a kill shelter in CA. She had some how fallen between the cracks. Well it’s not hard for that to happen when so many are going to be killed in the shelters. We knew from the moment we seen Whimsy picture in the shelter we had to rescue her because absolutely no one was coming to save her. How she ended up there is mind boggling. She was shared all over social media & was out of time.
Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Whimsy how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home.

Whimsy was bought back to the WA state from CA where she is now so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home.

We will never ever understand how Whimsy ended up in the kill shelter in CA. She is not the girl you see in these pictures to the girl we got out of the shelter. It’s unbelievable how different she looks now. She was quite skinny when we first rescued her. She is beyond grateful to get out of that hell hole & is such a full of life little soul.
Whimsy foster mum said, she loves attention & would love for it to be all about her. She is very cuddly.
Whimsy would growl at first with some people but then other’s she is instantly obsessed with. If at first you are holding her & someone tried to take her from her foster mum she may growl. But then becomes obsessed with her people & others around. She is one of the sweetest loving dogs.
Whimsy loves to be loved by you picking her up & snuggling with her. The reality is, the foster homes are her real first experience at being in a home.
She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not get to experience ever until she was rescued. She also wants to sleep in bed with you & just to be with you. She is obsessed with her her 2nd foster mum in CA & her foster mum in WA & likes her foster dad too. For some reason in her first foster home in CA she did not do well & like anyone.
Whimsy is really good with being bathed & groomed, she is so tolerant. We were told in her first foster home in CA she did not like the vets or groomer but then did amazing with the 2nd foster home with that groomer. Whimsy loves to eat & is a wonderful eater, she is not shy about that. In her foster home she eats clean. Meaning she eats, fruits, vegetables, grains & raw proteins along with supplements.
She is a wonderful walker on her collar. She does amazing considering we don’t think she was ever taught.

Whimsy rides beautifully in the car & considering the only times we know of was when she was transported to WA & when we got her & now with her foster families. But she has had many adventures in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Whimsy as you can imagine spent such a long time in a caged environment. Please do not say you won’t crate her & then go & crate her. We are also looking for a forever home for Whimsy where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them.
Whimsy is good with dogs but could be the only dog in the home & receive all the attention.
Whimsy is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her. A fully fenced backyard is mandatory for Whimsy in a home. She is a good escape artist & will get out if there is any little hole at all & go for a wander & go with anyone if she goes on an adventure.

Whimsy is roughly 7.2 lbs, she is 4 years old & a terrier mix, what she is mixed with we are not sure, female, she is spayed by laser by our vets. She had a dental scale & polish. She is up to date on her shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed.

We have spent far more on Whimsy with bringing her to WA with her travel costs from CA, her medical care in WA, etc & bringing than her adoption fee comes close to covering.

Whimsy has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have had her around children so we do not recommend cats nor children but it’s always up to the adopters to responsible with their children, cats & dogs.

We were not there when Whimsy was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is.

As with all of our rescues & Whimsy’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Whimsy potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.

We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.

Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Whimsy & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Whimsy who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for this special sweet little lady.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.

Whimsy has an adoption fee of $1255 & does not even come close to what we have spent on rescuing her & medically. She is now ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
