Beautiful 3-year-old Iris is looking for her furever family. Iris was once not fond of humans but has blossomed into a happy, relaxed, fun kitty with a great personality.
She comes from wherever she may be when her name's called, loves to be petted and brushed (comes running when shown the grooming mitt), 'chirps' at her human as if conversing, and enjoys watching birds, bugs and lizards out windows. She followed her foster mom around the house, watched her work, and cuddled in bed for a bit morning and night. She has been scratching only on cat trees, not furniture or anything else.
Iris is still getting comfortable with being held. She'll tolerate it for a few minutes, then squirm to get away. She's advanced with this, so it's a matter of time before she's comfortable with longer periods. She prefers to play by herself but will tease her human to chase her and play her version of hide and seek. Her one weakness is houseplants. She loves to eat them. All plants must be kept out of her reach. A regular supply of cat grass is recommended for her to graze on to satisfy her need for veggies. She loves catnip, too.
It's not known how she'll be with other cats. The proper introduction will be needed. She has not been tested with dogs.

Our goal is to adopt as many pets into loving forever homes as possible each month. We screen applications and arrange meet and greet times with each animal. Once the potential adopter has completed their application and met the pet, we do a 1 on 1 consultation about pet care and the life expectancy of their new family member.
