My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bonnie is our honorary hound who joined Sandy at our rescue kennel a couple of months ago. She was at a local shelter after being picked up as a stray and she was very sick 😞 You see, Bonnie had pyometra which is an infection of the uterus that if not treated quickly could be fatal. Luckily our friend who is also a fantastic vet was able to surgically remove Bonnie’s infected uterus, saving her life ❤️ Now this sweet girl is fully healed and ready to begin her NEW WONDERFUL LIFE! 🐾

Bonnie’s age is somewhat of a mystery…The shelter had her as 2.5 years old, but her vet felt more like she was around 8-9. Sandy feels she’s closer to 3-4 though so regardless she covers all of the bases ☺️ We are not certain of her breed either but perhaps a shepherd/border collie mix of some sort? She’s weighs about 70lbs and is just as sweet as can be 💕

Bonnie does well with all of the other hound kids but really loves attention from her hooman. She follows Sandy around everywhere and can’t get enough lovin…she’s a BIG kisser too ☺️ What this sweet girl dreams of is finally having a loving family of her own to kiss and love on forever ❤️

Bonnie is fully vetted and located at our rescue kennel in Dunmore WV but transport assistance is available to the right home. For more information or to request an application for this very special girl please EMAIL us at ammarescue@gmail.com

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with our marketing team, From there, it transitions into the actual adoption application, 3 pages of application and the actual adoption contract / agreement. Home checks can be done when questionable. Vet references are always checked, and the individuals are also background checked for any animal related charges. AMMAR, rescues dogs from shelters up and down the east coast regardless of medical conditions. We then treat or rehabilitate these animals to ready them for their new lives. We also accept owner surrenders. In addition, we also rescue litters of puppies or mothers waiting to whelp that litter. Our adoption fees are generally in the $200-$400 range, this is written into our corporate bylaws. AMMAR also has transport assistance to get these hounds to their new homes. Generally, at no additional charge to the adopter.

More about this rescue

AMMAR was founded On November 13th 2013 and registered with the West Virginia Secretary of States Office on that date, control # 9A34A, as a West Virginia Non Profit Incorporation. Our main functions are three;

1) To serve as a Hound breed, Safe haven, and Rescue

3) To educate the public about the Bloodhound Breed of dogs.

Our major source of funding is through public donations and fund raisers, which we rely on for everyday operations. AMMAR is an all Volunteer Organization. The organizers/ board members/ contributors are not compensated, as to direct virtually all the funds to the hounds.
