My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you would like more information about Max or are interested in adopting him, please send an email to melissa.pastrano@gmail.com

I encountered Max one Sunday afternoon while he sat, utterly helpless, on a curb at a bustling intersection. He fixed his gaze on each passing car, seemingly in search of his owner. My heart went out to him, prompting me to swiftly change lanes and pull into the gas station adjacent to the curb where he sat. As I stepped out of my car and scanned the surroundings, I couldn't spot him on the curb. To my surprise, a moment later, he emerged from around my car, apparently having followed my car. He walked straight up to me, rolled over, and extended his belly for a friendly greeting. I showered him with affection, and he reciprocated by licking my face once he rolled back over. With his big, pleading brown eyes, he seemed to implore for love and compassion. His thin frame and mud-covered front legs, along with overgrown, untrimmed nails, painted a picture of neglect. "Would you like to come home with me, buddy?" I inquired as I scooped him up and placed him in the back of my car.

Despite my efforts to locate Max's owner through various websites and social channels, no leads have emerged. Max has since found a comfortable home with me and my four dogs. Surprisingly, he is house trained and has adapted well to our environment. We’ve also been crate training, which he doesn’t seem to mind in the least. He gets along with my dogs, although two of them, being older and less inclined to play, tend to keep their distance. Judging by his teeth, I estimate Max to be around 6 to 9 months old. I've taken him for neutering, he's up to date on his vaccinations (rabies and distemper), and he’s now chipped.

Max is an exuberant, affectionate, and loving boy, ideally suited to be a cherished family companion. If I didn't already own four dogs, I would certainly contemplate keeping him. However, the long-term commitment and financial demands of caring for five dogs would be challenging and unfair to my current pets, or quite frankly, to Max.

Max exhibits remarkable intelligence and eagerly responds to consistent, positive reinforcement. He takes delight in snuggling up next to you, offering warm companionship. As a Coonhound mix, he boasts a lively spirit and will require regular exercise, making him an excellent fit for an active and outdoorsy individual or family. I believe he would thrive equally, joining a family with dogs to keep him entertained or without other animal companions so he could soak up all the attention and love to himself.

I encourage you to give Max the opportunity to enrich your life and become a treasured member of your family.
